Our History
Chikurin has been brewing sake ceaselessly since 1867. What made it possible for us to survive the times of sweeping change in Japanese history – such as the collapse of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Pacific War – is our natural environment. We hope to continue to maintain our unique flavors made through the blessings of our natural surroundings.
The elements indispensable to producing our flavors is the splendid environment the local region has been blessed by, the rice grown in the very area, and the brewers themselves, who are proud to call this region their home. Rather than being influenced by temporary trends, Chikurin is set to pursue perfection to provide our customers with top-quality products.
The quality of rice, the chief ingredient of sake, determines its taste. We use the very best of the top quality Yamada Nishiki variety, which we try to grow ourselves as much as possible. Our ultimate aim is to produce all our sake with home grown rice.
Easy to drink, but tasty sake. We will be producing sake while praying also for the good health of our customers.
